hello. my name is heather. I am a graphic designer, artist, illustrator, aspiring crafster, and lover of birds. In July of 2008 after finishing my BFA in Design from Belmont, I moved to New York City and began my journey as a professional designer. During the week you can find me designing home and office products alongside the talented people at Galison. When I'm not at Galison, you might find me meandering through Central Park, admiring sailboats and spying on all the people.
I love people, and I am constantly drawing inspiration from the diversity and vastness of the individuals that make up New York. Nearly every day new project ideas float into my head as I walk to the bus or sip coffee on my lunch break. I feel most myself when I'm making something new, getting paint under my fingernails, or running my hand over the textures of newly twisted threads.
Beyond design I am also grateful to know so many incredible people in New York and throughout the world who are fighting for causes of social justice. Currently I know people teaching under privileged children throughout New York, fighting against human trafficking, and my own family has a heart to provide medical care to some of the poorest people in the world. These issues are constantly pressing into my heart and mind and often affect my artwork. I'm always interested in exploring how good design can also "do good" and affect change in our world.
Thanks for stopping by. Drop me a note if you want to say hello.
